Message 2.5” IC pipe w/ 2” turbo inlet ?

Since I’ve been gone for over a decade I’m a bit behind on how the game has changed.
15 years ago I never heard of “breather mods”. Now I read about it all the time on here and how it’s a “must” and one of the beginning things to do.

So I’m trying to learn.

Back in the day you only had a couple IC options. Stillen, Greddy & HKS. And I never heard of upgrading your IC piping from 2” to 2.5”
* Maybe the Stillen used 2.5” IC piping but I’m not sure.

I’m reading on here that it’s always a good idea to upgrade from 2” IC pipe to 2.5” IC pipe even with turbos that have a 2” inlet.
- Is this true?
- What is the advantage since your IC and turbo only have a 2” inlet? ( assuming your aftermarket IC only has a 2" inlet ) To me it seems like a “bottleneck” in the font and rear of the pipes? To me it only makes sense that you can only get so much air thru a 2” inlet so why use fittings that go from 2.5” to 2”?

And with the few turbos out there that offer a 2.5” inlet what is the biggest advantage?
- More boost / power with less PSI and stress on the turbos/engine?

I see some turbos offer the 2” inlet and also the 2.5” inlet?
Why even offer a 2” inlet if a 2.5” is an option?

Thanks everyone for reading this post and being patient with me.
