Unless you're already well familiar with the handling of a TT Z, it's best to get familiar with the car before turning it up. TTs have a tendency to introduce their owners to trees sideways if you're not respectful of their power. Also with any older car, low miles or not, it's best to spend some time with the car before modding to shake out any issues. I see people blow their wad on mods and then not be able to afford simple maintenance that pops up. Take your time, don't be cheap, welcome to TT life. That will also give you more time to learn about the mod path.
