Message I finally found some time to try installing my 8" sub in a new location. I had one of those tubes that sat in the back, but I wasn't able to fit my ttops there, which was super annoying, so after trying to find a stealthy place for a sub many times in the past, I think I've finally cracked the case and am happy with what I've come up with.

I'm not 100% done, I still need to sand the box and cover it with fabric, but it's done enough for you all to get the idea. All in all, it took me about $50 in materials, and about 5 hours hands on time, so not that bad.

It sounds great, it's not incredibly loud, but I also didn't want that, the bass is the perfect amount for my liking, it won't be rattling anything and it's not overpowering, but perfectly balanced.

Here is the picture progression:

first taped it all up:

then added the fiberglass and resin and let it cure:

did a test fit, looked good;

add another layer of fiberglass and resin to make it stronger:

now add the mdf top and side, I attached the wood to the fiberglass with some liquid nails and some penny nails and then covered the seams with another layer of fiberglass to ensure it all stayed together. The harder part was making the wood template, I got some cardboard and traced an outline, cut the wood and made a lot of sanding, small cuts to get it mostly to line up well. Whatever gaps existed, I filled with caulk.

all that is left is to sand the rough spots out and cover the box with some black fabric. It's a perfect snug fit back there, all I need to do it keep to secure is some double sided velcro. It's around ~.6ish cubic feet, i'm sure a 10" would work with this set up and the volume for a 10" might be even better.

I'm pretty excited to have bass and still be able to use my ttops. Hope you enjoyed this!
