prevent premature flat-tappet (lifter) wear during initial startup. This is geared towards domestic single-cam V8 engines with rocker arms and installed valve spring pressures around 100+ lbsf. The rocker arm ratios are 1.5:1 or higher which effectively multiplies the load at the lifter/cam lobe interface (100 x 1.5 = 150 lbsf at the interface in this scenario). Only a few aftermarket valve springs for the VG30DE(TT) are 80 lbsf installed with most being 65 to 75 lbsf, and with no rocker arm to multiply the force, the lifter/cam lobe interfaces are not excessively loaded during break-in. I don't think a break-in oil with high ZDDP is necessary with the VG... modern, low ZDDP oils certainly haven't seemed to cause an epidemic of worn lifters in VGs, unlike the problems domestic V8s have had which have driven the development of these break-in oils.
