Previous owner changed the timing belt ( twin turbo ), water pump, idler pulley, and various seals at 120k...but not the auto-tensioner ( it still met tension specs and was changed back at 60k ). Don't want to do it all over just for the auto-tensioner ( currently running fine ). Do these have a mile life ? Do they give any warning signs when they start to go bad? Can you visually check their positioning to render a verdict? What do you have to remove to be able to see its deflection?
