I think having the engine out is a necessity on the TT. I think you could replace them with the engine in on an NA. The TT suction line is the hardest one to route, and the hardest one to find as it is TT specific, and NLA from Nissan. It comes in three pieces. When you get the new lines flush through all your old lines with plenty of denatured alcohol, its a good solvent to get out old oil and grime. On the older r12 system there is a suction throttle valve in the AC box, it can get stuck and cause no cooling. You can remove the box and gut the STV, if you do that you might consider replacing the thermal expansion valve (TXV) with a r134a unit. If yours is an r12 system you could also consider refilling with a r12 replacement like redtek.
