The concreting of the block reinforces the cylinders not the lower webbing area. The bedplate isn't helping that part of the block either as it still relies on a bunch of 6mm low torque strength screws to fasten it to the block. The issue being solved by both EPRacing and BDE is the factory girdle doesn't have the tensile strength or mass to resist the higher forces we are generating now. Our 127lb cast iron block doesn't move around much do to it's short length. Even the long 2j motors just use main caps and locking plate and it's length has more potential for twisting and flexing and a simple billet main cap system has proven to work very well.
