Message	heater hose or similar, insert and duct tape to the vacuums intake hose. This will give a flexible line that can reach in that opening. Just note - need to be careful about breathing mouse excrement particles, best to wear a mask. You can use a home vacuum too but I'd recommend immediately getting rid of the filter after doing the job. This method I think is better than washing since it doesn't involve extra prep work and keeps the stuff confined to the vacuum instead of washing over the engine bay nooks and crannies.
