| He is the one that did the S2k retro. Look at his comparison between lense on and lense off. The clean cutoff is the purpose of doing a retrofit. The cutoff is distorted by the flutes in the lense. The JDM lense have the same fluting so I don't see how they can be any better thus the reason why I choose not to use them. Besides that, those projectors are made for RHD so the shield will need to be modified and so much projector technology has changed since those were made. IMO, they are overpriced for what they are. I think my cost will be about the same if not a little more than those after all said and done, but performance will be way better. [ http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2470334/S2000-Projector-retrofit.html ] I want to use the Jspec shrouds and I've been looking for places to chrome it but with today's vinyl where it's at now is pretty good so I am planning to just wrap them. Search has led to me find out that at one point, someone made inserts and a group buy was started with having them chromed but they yellowed. Chrome vinyl is a bit touchy but should hold up. They won't do much reflecting as that's all done in the bowl of the projector so no worries if it's not perfect looking chrome. As of right now, I have the new D2S 4.0's from Morimoto but I plan on taking the front half of our OEM projector and mating it to the HID bowl from the D2S 4.0. Reason is that the Moromito unit is a 3" lense and it doesn't protrude far enough like the OEM unit does. Seeing as the lense itself on our cars are well known to be pretty good, it should work. A hybrid projector you could say. Out projectors have the shield on the front half so I can take that off and the Morimoto is a BiXenon so the shield is on the bowl. Size wise, it looks to be a pretty good fit but I have some mods to do to make it all fit. Ballast and bulbs will be Phillips from my old car that had a retrofit. All I need to source now are inserts and the clear lense.
