| Have you not noticed that Nissan trucks built in the US are flexfuel? But nothing else Nissan produces in Japan...? Does it not make you curious why? Oh...you thought I was referring to subsidies for producing the fuel...well you presume too much....typical Auto manufacturers within the USA receive subsidies for flex fuel vehicles produced from the federal government. That is the only reason the fuel is still available retail. Practically no one, on the private consumer side of the market, cares, dealerships don't care. The moment the manufacturers stop producing them, 99.999% of the pumps will be phased out entirely at standard consumer gas stations. Go to ANY Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota dealership and ask the sales person, or even sales manager, which vehicles are flexfuel......you will get a deer in headlights look. They wont have a clue, nor do they care to, because that doesnt even factor into anything they do when ordering their inventory from the manufacturer. The fuel doesn't sell. Pumps have already been disappearing over the past couple of years. I have seen a handful of them disappear where I live and there weren't exactly ubiquitous to begin with. The only reason the E85 pumps are still around is because the vehicles are still being produced and largely sold into commercial/governement fleets. While commercial fleets won't use E85 as it is not cost-effective...the gov doesnt give a damn about bottom lines and may use it if there are other non-market-driven motivations for doing so.
