Message This is a big deal to me as it signals the transition of F1 ERS-like technology to a production car. Are there other PRODUCTION cars besides the SQ7 picking this up? If so, please post.

For those who don't know the Audi SQ7 uses a 48V electrically driven supercharger to alleviate boost lag completely which enables a sequential turbo charger system to be optimized for max power. This makes for one hellofa powerful, efficient, and fun car... when it works.

Now Audi isn't known for reliability, emissions integrity, but neither are the other german cars so this rather complicated system sounds like a maintenance nightmare in the long haul. But a properly configured hybrid system would be extremely hard to beat with a traditional turbo setup. Maybe not in 1/4 mile but definitely on a track on city streets.

How is this Z related?? Well, if we want our beloved Z to keep up with the times we'd better start looking into e-supercharger upgrades. Physically incorporating the e-supercharger may not be that difficult. Tuning it along side the original ECU will be somewhat challenging. But if there's any community of folks who can do it it's you guys!

If you're comfortable with what you've got and the disadvantages of the traditional configuration there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just as there's nothing wrong with old computerless big block muscle cars either. But keep in mind as technology like Audi's production 48V supercharger system becomes more common so too do our Z's become part of that dinosaur muscle car generation.

Thoughts? Let's hear 'em!
