Would potentially detract from the front/back contact pad, but I'm not entirely certain it's a 1:1 ratio. Not sure what the calculation would be to make that determination but there would be a number of variables beyond width and length such as tire pressure and material strength which aren't going to follow a linear scaling. I would be very surprised that going wider does not increase surface area. Shape will definitely change but no increase in overall contact area is just hard for me to believe.
