| then you should be able remove it with a 1/2" drive, but I would not be using a ratchet. Use a straight bar because you can force the shank into the plug easier with one hand while push/pulling the bar with the other hand. Also, a straight bar is usually longer for better leverage. If the square hole is butchered you will have problems, especially if it is the transmission filler plug because that is the least accessible. I knew one guy who undid his butchered plug with a cold chisel. If you are not planning on re-using the oem plug then it doesn't matter if you damage it. I would NOT advocate purchasing a square key socket just to undo the plugs. If the plugs are butchered the square key socket will be useless anyway. .
