Message value of a car.

An exception to this will be if it was a no-expense spared build with only the best of the best parts used.

If outdated/middle-range aftermarket parts were used, (stillen IC's, Z1 exhaust, etc.) I would add NO MORE than 1/5 of the cost of the parts when new to the overall value of the vehicle as if it were stock. Usually, these parts won't help increase the value of a used Z at all.

When considering a car with the best/most desirable parts currently on the market (i.e, SPL, Ash intercoolers and piping, Haltech ECU, GTX turbos, etc.) I would consider adding up to 1/2 of the cost of these parts when new to the overall value of the vehicle depending on mileage of the parts and many other factors.

Like you say, it is very subjective. This is assuming that you want a vehicle that is modified. To purists, many would prefer to start with a stock car with only OEM parts and a strong maintenance history. In this case, modifications may decrease the value of the car to them.

Buying a modified vehicle, especially a 25 year old turbo car is a large risk for the buyer because it is not always easy to tell pre-purchase if the modifications were performed properly and assuming the car was tuned properly for however many years/decades they were running the aftermarket parts is a big assumption to make considering the advancements in technology and number of stupid people.
Many also consider aftermarket modifications as an indicator that the car was driven aggressively, beaten on, abused etc. This isn't always the case, but a lot of the time it is accurate. This is also something to consider when searching for a performance car that was previously modified.
