Message You definitely want to read up then if pedal feel is your concern, messing around with piston area absolutely affects pedal feel.

As for aesthetics, bigger is in fact better...or at least, last I heard, but I'm thinking looking good is not going to compensate for fucked up pedal feel for you.

It isn't all about being track ready. I suspect a lot of people are street-driving around on these ad-hoc front brake "upgrades" and their front brakes are doing all the braking with the rears doing little to none....not just talking about Z owners here either....and they don't even know it. There is a placebo effect with car mods, they think they have great feel and stopping performance but if they actually tested and recorded data they may find otherwise.
