So you replaced the calipers, lines, and used a new rotor of the same size? What makes you think you upped "stopping power"? If you did not increase swept area or radial pad height, then really all you likely did was alter brake bias which is what you felt "right off the bat". You might see some benefit in increased heat absorption capacity from using larger pads to spread out the friction over a larger area, but that benefit would never be seen until you hit the track for a few laps....and even if so, if you fuck up the brake bias enough you will get worse braking performance no matter how much heat you can absorb/dissipate up front. Whatever you felt "right off the bat" was a result of a change in brake bias and/or pad compound.
