Message On the low end, just getting engine, parts, $1500. Doable. Heck, i'm considering selling my one last set of TT swap everything for $2000 right now cause I can't find any suitable broken cheap cars to do it myself.

Timing belt kit, $500
Yup, that's definitely needed.

EFI, $500
Sure, but that's up to the person. Most of what you'd need to replace is injector, coilpack, and coolent temp connectors. But yes, it's more than recommended to change this during your swap because you'll have a nightmare sometime in the future.

Reuse injectors? Most definitely! This is a TT swap, not a TT build. If they ohm to spec, just get it done. If they start to go out, that's when you consider changing them! It's just a plenum pull and generic chip tune away! Plus a set of 6, from Bernie isn't too too expensive, and if you want to take a chance, you can get a set of 6 in rail from someone local for probably under $200. It will work for the time being.

Turbos? That's very true and definitely on you. If you saw the engine run, etc, great, otherwise, this is a gamble. If the clip is JDM, most probably they're seized. If they weren't, you wouldn't know (or at least I wouldn't) if the seals leak or not (but they probably do). Even if you needed a pair of snails, used and local, $4-500 for the pair! Someone looking to TT swap with a message like that isn't looking to spend 3k on turbos.

Motor mounts, there are cheaper options, like Ford motor mounts, but even Brett's $150 ones aren't a bank breaker.

Oil cooler? Why not OEM used? I paid $20 for one on the vert and it runs like a champ. No leaky leaky. When the time comes, I'll replace it.

Radiator? That's a gamble i'm taking. I still run the original OEM in all of my z's (well, one blew up this year on the Coquihala), but I put a LOT of mileage. Mishimoto are what, like $200?

FPR, dampener, sure, I'd reuse. Those can be changed at anytime. That's not critical to get done during the swap. You'll have a set from your old engine and a set from your new. You should have one set that works without issue. Fuel filter, lol that`s a given. $15 new oem, get`r done!

Stock intercoolers, piping, yes, reuse! Exhaust, yes, reuse! JDM downpipes, YES, why not?!!

Tell someone who's now saving for a TT swap (NOT a TT build), that they need to spend $700 on downpipes and $400 on test pipes and to get new rails and injectors, and $500 on "a bunch of wires". Their car right now is worth $1000, unless a true enthusiast like us, they're not going to spend $7-8k doing what we do.

I'm thinking what's acceptable. I don't think it's bad advice. I did say in my previous post that anything that doesn't require a motor pull can be done in moderation.

I stand by this.

However, we've done this enough times...and we all have an abundance of random parts and spare z's. Heck, I even call one of my perfectly running Z's a parts car because I don't drive it much, and it's full of boxes with parts. I guess we know what we can get away with, but it's bad advice for n00bz.

My converTT is basically a stock TT. I reused the EFI as it was in great condition for 90k miles (California car). Used oem oil cooler, used oem radiator, stock turbos, stock injectors, a spare SZ clutch I had, JDM downpipes, NA cat pipes. I just did what maintenance I needed to do (timing belt, motor mounts, etc). It's a daily driver that's a TT swap. Not a TT build. That's the other Z.
