Message Most swaps end up being more expensive than they seem at first. The LS path sounds tempting, however it inevitably includes many unexpected costs.

-If the LS ends up being 200-300 lbs lighter, you will need adjustable coilovers at the very least for acceptable handling. At most, you may need custom valving or spring rates to account for the weight change.

-If you swap to any other motor, remember that most of the stock electrical and fuel brackets will no longer fit. You will need a combination of LS/VH45 brackets, OEM brackets, and custom ones to make the swap work well.

Everything boils down to the quality of work you plan to do. If you hope for a masterfully planned and detailed engine bay, plan to machine a bunch of custom mounts and brackets for the small things. I'm not an expert on the VH45 or LS, but think about cruise control, alternator, AC, power steering, etc. Will this be a fully functional street car or just a lean mean track machine?
