My pic whore Sunday continues... I had this old Moroso V8 stud-mount valve spring compressor left over from my old muscle car days so I modified it to be VG specific and breathe some new life into it for me. I made a 1/4" mild steel plate to bolt onto the head at one of the cam cap bolt holes and added a stud to mount the compressor onto it - the additional length of the plate is to support the leverage against the casting rather than just the bearing boss itself. After that, I bent the compressors tangs 90° to the sliding shaft (in stock form they were angled to work with the angularity of V8 stud-mount valve train) and welded a windowed tube parallel onto it to compress the valve spring and give access to the keepers. The cool thing about this compressor is it cams-over at full compression to lock the assembly in place and frees up both hands for keeper installation.
That's all I have to say today.
