Message	hard way it's better to have that belt a bit loose than too tight (if not dead on, of course). Set the deflection cold; that way it will be a bit loose when it gets warmed up. The water pump bearings wear out fairly soon if the belt is too tight. Did you look into the fan-clutch bearing?
