Message If you've only got 3 thou to go you could probably make it happen just being gentle. Start with 600 to 1000 grit sandpaper on a flat surface and use some kind of lubricant. Use very light pressure distributed around the ring because the edge will want to dig in and make figure 8 shapes. Check your progress regularly and at multiple points around the ring.
