this application. Especially when coupled with shrink tube and used on a part that's bolted in-place/stationary. The fact that engine manufacturers don't use solder in their brand new wiring harnesses doesn't automatically mean crimps are superior. They're manufacturing a brand new harness, so it doesn't make sense to solder. There aren't a lot of crimps either (the only ones I can think of are used for ground points and the pins which are crimped into each "prong" of every connector, which doesn't really count since a crimp is the only option). One continuous strand of new wire is always better than either a crimp or solder.
