to replace with an aftermarket, I would have (and have had) a stock -> aftermarket adapter soldered and waiting. No point to cut into the wiring if its functioning perfectly. However, if I bought a car with cut/damaged stereo wiring, especially as seen here (hard to tell but if I'm seeing it correctly it doesn't seem there is enough wiring to splice into most of those pins), I would solder in the harness for my aftermarket stereo and be done with it. If the next owner absolutely needs to have that plug to connect to an adapter harness (however inefficient that would be to replace) then so be it; they can solder in a plug. Personal preference Devon, do what you think is best for your situation.
