Message	years ago, but others have since caught up with the technology. Originally, Sikkens was a scandinavian paint and Glasurit was German. Both companies have since been bought out. Sikkens parent company Akzo-Nobel has been bought out by PPG, while Glasurit was purchased by RM/BASF, so the technologies have become much more uniform, with less difference between them. The critical factors really lie in the skill of the painter, and using products that are suited for the particular climate as 280ZuL8r has suggested. Some of the less expensive products like Limco (RM's lower end) are fine too, but the clears are generally not as durable. While its best to stay within a "system" it is also possible to use a less expensive base coat with a better clear coat (ie Limco base w Glasurit high solids clear), but not recommended.
