| Timing- Less advance reduces the max pressure seen. Also then reduces power. More fuel/less air- Richer mix won't burn as hot so pressure is reduced. Less pressure = less power as before. Higher octane - Resists ignition allowing the spark to be advanced and the mixture to be leaner. Both result in higher pressures and more power. Water injection - Cools the mixture which allows more timing and spark advance. Steam generated by combustion can also add a little power. There may be a few other options I can't recall but these are the biggies.
