If there is a right way, lol.... I have had several cars painted at the cheepie places. If you take them a fully prepped car and you remove all of the trim and weatherstrip you can get a decent job done. They will usually allow you to upgrade the paint quality as well and you can color sand and buff to a nice finish. Their biggest downfall is in the prepwork (shoddy bodywork, sanding, masking). Depending on the painter you might get a great finish or it might be orange-peeley. Some of the production painters know how to lay it on really smooth b/c they have painted a zillion cars.
