Message I went with the 5K/7K set up from PowerTrix too, in preference for a softer ride than the 6K/8K that was, at the time, touted as optimal. I do a few track events per year, but mostly use my car for weekend cruises.

The good news is that the springs do soften up a bit, once they've been on the car a while. (...Either that, or I've gotten used to it. Probably some of both.)

My wheels are 17" instead of 18", so their extra sidewall helps to absorb the impact from small ruts and lumps. But wavy concrete slabs and frost heaves can make the car feel jouncy. It seems counter-intuitive, but I prefer the ride with damping set a bit on the firm side to counteract those higher amplitude bumps.

When I go to driving events, I'm usually travelling solo, and the firmer ride feels appropriate for a "track car." When I'm carrying a passenger and luggage, the extra weight softens the ride. It's not as comfortable as my wife and I would like (nor as spacious), but we both recognize that there are compromises to be made when we take the Z.
