| When I first installed, they were too loud despite being from the "lower noise final batch". Took them out with maybe 16 miles on them (2 test drives). I chalked it up to not being installed to spec based on feedback I got here and took them to another shop to get redone, but I was moving to Germany within a few months and the 3.69 OEM rear end is better for Europe (especially German autobahns). So they have sat unused for the last 4.5 years, in fact I haven't even refilled the diff with gear oil. I plan to re-install them now I am back in the US, but my Z is back-shelved until I have the time and desire to address some areas that need addressing. I don't even have it registered since Florida plates are quite expensive. If they are still loud, then I may repull the diff and try to find a shop I can trust to be competent down here, which was a challenge in Oklahoma City, to take it apart and verify they are within spec. The 1st guy took a very long time to get around to it, his shop was a fairly well-established Corvette shop but it was closing up due to a falling out between him and his partner, so I got the impression he didn't really give the task the attention it required. The 2nd guy was a crusty old geezer referred to me by some local miata spec-racers who said he did solid work for them over the years and currently focused more on 4X4 diffs, but had extensive experience with competition grade drag cars. So I guess I will see eventually if I am going to keep them or not. I really want to make the switch....I've been driving with an NA speedo sensor/spline the whole time... but not if it is going to sound like the alien master race mother ship is coming in for a landing in my hatch. The sound and volume was really intrusive. I still want to be able to use this car to go to dinner or escort a foreign dignitary, preferably one with large boobage. If you are looking to score a set, mine won't be available anytime soon.
