Hi folks I am getting another 300zx this summer which I am going to keep as a occasional summer driver about 4,000kms a year. It's a car that I will drive and enjoy and keep as a classic car long term. I am having trouble which car to buy as I have narrowed down to 2. I am thinking the 1996 is a better choice even though it has the obdII electronics and dropped variable timing. 1) 1990 pearl yellow TT, 5 speed, leather, 50,000 Kms. Price is $16,000 1 owner vehicle, stored in heated garage, paint 10 out of 10 seen the car in person, condition is excellent, interior is 9.2 other then very very slight wear on driver seat bolster. Everything is all original which is what worries me it needs new muffler, 120k timing belt and change all fluids. So will need to put some money into it. Car is in my province only 4 hours away which is really nice. 2) 3rd owner, 1996 super black TT , 5 speed, leather, 62,000kms price is $16,500, it's an out of province vehicle so will have to pay 5% tax and it's 2,500 kms away about 3 day drive. Realistically, the cost would be more like 18,500 given taxes and travel costs. The 120 timing belt was done, new upgraded suspension, all new fluids, new aux fan, 2 new o2 sensors, so lots of maintenance done on car last few years, plus airbags, new injectors, and suede is nice. I know these cars on the high side for price but in canada they are harder to find, especially a 1996 TT or a 1990 pearl yellow TT but I am very picky about my cars and don't mind paying a premium. Most 300zx owners who take care of there cars, don't give away their cars for free. Thanks for your advice, ultimately it's up to me but a little advice doesn't hurt.
