You could say the Z32 has a cult following, sure, but as most everything else in the english language that has now been watered down and misused and misapplied to the point that half the people dont even know what it means anymore......CULT followings generally refer to things that are MORE popular after they are current or out of production than they were when they were current readily available.

Take this illustartion of the difference from the TV world....
Family Guy was a failure of a TV show when it first broadcast, but it gained a cult following as more people got turned onto it after it was cancelled and the episodes were still available.
The Flintstones on the other hand....

The 510 may have been a popular car when it was offered but there didnt exist a level of hot-rodding culture and social culture around it back then to the extent that it exists today...THAT is what makes it "cult". Why that word is chosen, I dont know, but that is the sentiment behind it.

I cant really say whether this phenomenon is true for the Z32 or not. It is debatable, and our opinions are anything but unbiased.

As for LEGENDARY, yeah, composite materials and innovative or pioneering engineering most certainly ARE a part of what can make a car legendary, but not necessarily a requirement. What is a requirement is that the mere mention of the name illicits a universal and almost uniform response from anyone with any level of knowledge within a field of interest.

Ask 100 car guys/gals to pick out a picture of a 510 among pictures of many other cars and likely 50 couldnt do it. That is a generous guesstimate IMO. on the other hand, if you CAN'T pick out a picture of an F40, then you aren't a car guy/gal at all.

If you have to be somewhat well versed in a culture to be familiar with something, then it is CULT. If it is one of the first names you learn, then it is LEGENDARY. Are we still not seeing the difference?

Again, people are confusing INFLUENTIAL with LEGENDARY.

No matter how influential the Z32 is, it really isnt legendary...and neither is the 510. If the Z32 isnt legendary, the 510 sure as hell isn't. That may be biased, but its true based on any standard you wish to apply.
