Message	than anything else. While not a "lubrication point" as you stated, the grease helps helps keep from rusting but it probably does play a small role in helping minimize wear in the pin area. Even in new CAS's, I recommend cleaning out the old grease and putting in a dab of new grease, because parts may sit around a long time and the grease tends to get dried up.
