Message Just tap off a circuit that is on with the car, and use one of these [ http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Cooper-Bussmann-ATM-fuse-tap/_/N-25gq?itemIdentifier=32416_0_0_ ]

its way easier than digging around trying to find a specific wire to splice off of.

Alternatively grab the FSM and start looking over electrical diagrams to find a +12V wire somewhere that is only on with the key on.

I run my Passport across the bottom of the windshield, down by the a-pillar, into the fuse area. From there it connects up to power/ground. I brought the mute controller back up along the vent thing on the side of the dash, and mounted the mute button/alert piece on the side of the light cluster control. I like it there because its easy to get to, and I will definitely notice the blinking light for a detected signal.

One more pro-tip if you're new to radar detectors. Don't leave it up when parking in most public places. They are theft magnets.
