Not a lot of people pay cash for new cars or pay them off before the 0% APR period ends. Interest adds up very fast...it makes a $25k car suddenly cost $30k+ when all is said and done.
There are more cost-effective cars than civics IMO. pre 2006 Jetta TDI's are one of the most reliable cars ever made. Lots of guys get 50 mpg highway (manual trans) with those and they last 400k+ miles if taken care of. Some add a taller 5th gear and get 60mpg or more. I don't understand why the general U.S. population is just now starting to see the obvious potential with diesels - the rest of the world has been enjoying the benefits for the last decade.
