Message if your updates are being sent as a WHOLE, and unpacked/"installed", then there's no problem, unless you somehow cut power during the unpacking/installing.

BUT, if you are copying/installing at the same time while transferring (which I assume so), you do risk messing things up if the connection is lost. I highly doubt there is extra address space on the ECU to hold a whole tune and then install it, unless you've developed some hardware that will store it before unpacking.

It's just plain knowledge. If you hit ENTER when sending a text but hit it too early, the other person may not understand what you wrote. As long as it's not an update to your hardware device, which i'm sure you'd be packaging along with the software, then you should be okay with trying to update the tune. Worst case in this way is that you just try to update it again.

The problem is not if the data will get there (I sure hope you'd be doing some checksum checks, can't rely on 20 year old protocols even though they are pretty bulletproof). The data will more than likely get there, and will be perfect, but the problem lies with how you're "installing" the tune.

Now of course, if the ECU has a kernel, everything I have said gets thrown out the door. You will brick your ECU...but z32 ECU's, i'm not sure. Old technology, but even then, it depends how the kernel is developed as i'm sure you wouldn't be updating the kernel.

I've kept my explanation very high level. We can go on and on for hours in a nerd debate so i'm going to stop here.
