Message All car makers need tradition, heritage.
Nissan (Datsun)'s heritage says that Z cars have 6 cylinders, and Sylvia's have 4. This has been the precedent for over 40 years.

It will be a real shame if they offer it with a 4. They keep saying that it's all under the guise of fuel economy and emissions but that's just not true. The emissions output and fuel economy can be easily brought to reasonable levels with current technology (see BMW's N54 and N55 turbocharged inline sixes).

The truth is that if they offer the new model with a 4 and put a Z badge on it, the move will be nothing more than a money grab...the new management wants to use the Z's well established name to compete in the lower end market, which IMO is blasphemy and a dilution of the Z heritage.

I'm all for a new turbo 4 to compete in that market space, but put the Sylvia's lightning bolt "S" on the nose, and don't tarnish the heritage of the Z.
