Message	I like to check ring gaps because I have gotten good compression results on engines whose gaps were well beyond wear spec. Sticking lifters and valves can actually raise compression. If I have a high mileage motor out I am at the least going to replace every gasket so why not pull the bottom end apart to check everything.
