track events that they set up where you won't have to join their club nor any other in order to participate in the on-track driving. They will have "instructors" there, but they are really only going to give you some really really basic pointers that any numbnut should be able to figure out on their own, or at least learn within one or two laps. The real reason they are there is to ride along with you and make sure you aren't going to be a hazard on the track to yourself and everyone else. If you drive within your abilities, they typically "greenlight" you to drive unaccompanied unless you wish for them to continue to ride along and continue to give pointers. It is really hit or miss if the "instructors" that are typically at these things actually have solid instruction for novices or if they are just there to CYA the club with regards to the insurance stipulations and if they can help someone drive better, safer, smoother, etc etc, then its a added bonus and will separate that club's event from the others.
