This site doesnt attract new members because of its pretty font or cool smiley icons or some easily shilled vendor feedback system. It earns new members when someone buys a Z32, they have a brain, and they want to find complete, reliable, comprehensive information on the car, parts, procedures, advice, etc etc and they have already been to the other automotive facebook kiddie pages. I am yet to find a single forum for any other car I have owned or thought about purchasing that seems to contain 1/4 of the members with half the in-depth and accurate knowledge of the car that this forum contains, who have compiled an invaluable collection of posts, write-ups, and how-to's, and solid referrals. THAT is what attracts people to the site. If a new person comes and isnt capable of recognizing that, happy trails, no loss to the site. With that being said, it would be nice if the site never had any "problems". I never felt the issues it had were of any real concern to begin with. But then again I tend to bookmark & rename everything I come across that I may be interesting in using later or am definitely going to use later. So I have a running index of "stuff" I can quickly go through. I will say there was a lot of hoopla over the "search revamp" a few years ago, and I have never understood why. But then again, I havent found the forum searches elsewhere to be any different/better, so it's a push.
"What a curiosity our new political correctness has made of our public spaces. Let your sex tape loose on the Internet and be rewarded with your own TV show; photograph a crucifix in a jar of urine and our museums will vie to exhibit it; occupy someone else’s property and you will be hailed by the president for your keen social conscience. But call people who blow up, behead, and mutilate, “savage” — and polite society will find you offensive." --Jared Silverman "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." --Benjamin Franklin "Government is not reason. It is not eloquent. It is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." "The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury." --George Washington END THE FED ....learn why, in 42 minutes Full Pardon for PFC Bradley Manning |
