Message	you might want to consider the 7" polisher/sander that HF has: [ http://www.harborfreight.com/7-inch-variable-speed-polisher-sander-92623.html ] I've had an older model for probably 4-5 years, and it's been through probably 4-5 3-step detailing jobs, in addition to polishing my family's 36' boat a few time with no issues at all. We actually got my dad one for father's day or christmas a year or two ago, and it seems to be build better than mine. No issues with his either.
