Message I recently rebuilt both the engine and the turbos and found that I had lots of smoke on deceleration. I was running test pipes and JDM downpipes. I found a post from Ash about Sport 500s and the need for backpressure from cats to fix the smoke so I installed some high flow cats. The smoke was instantly gone but I still burn about a qt of oil every 2k miles.

I also used Sealed Power chrome rings on this build so I am not 100% certain where the oil is coming from. I use water injection so the combustion chambers stay really clean. I figure if it's the turbos leaking they will eventually coke up enough to drag on the turbine wheel and I will get new CHRAs. For now the oil consumption doesn't bother me and it boosts great so I am leaving it alone.

The cats can definitely hide smoke. I have a friend with a Z06 C5 Corvette with the LS6 and he burns a qt every 600 miles and there is no visible smoke when following him.
