| Okay, not really, but I'm trying to find humor in it somehow! A couple of weeks ago, I picked up another 90 NA to replace the one I sold before I changed sides of the country a number of years back. I've since come back, and been bored. Paid $750, wasn't running on all cylinders, and had a tapping that sounded like lifters. Turned out the lifters were fine (though I rebuilt them anyway, while I was in there) and that the timing belt tensioner hydraulics were shot, and the arm was rattling against the tensioner. Found a couple of bad injectors, replaced them, and a full array of new connectors. Put it all back together, and thought I'd double-checked everything. Got it running nice, took it for an inaugural test run, and didn't make it too far. The upper timing belt idler spun out through the timing cover, and the belt lost all tension. Aftermath:
24 valves, all looking exactly the same. As I was getting the motor out, I started working on a laundry list of other issues. Motor mounts separated, clutch and flywheel are all but scrap metal... and the exhaust... oh, the exhaust.
Yup, came out all in one piece. I'm not sure if ANY part of the old exhaust is going back in when I'm done.
Mid-pipes welded straight to the flanges of the factory cats? /facepalm. I'm debating if I can get it square in my chopsaw and put a metal cutting blade on it, or if I'm looking for good used ones.
Hey, these two pipes don't fit together well, lets just close the gap with more weld, flow's for suckers!
Hey, do you suppose this is one of those stretch bolts that I should replace because I took it out? The last thing I found was when I was disassembling the motor to see if there was anything else I should do (also so I could clean up the motor completely, top to bottom, so it was nice looking when it all goes back in.

I can't really point a finger at anyone on this one. NA checkvalve problem. I guess I have to source a TT oil filter tree while I'm at it.
