| In hindsight I wish I would have kept my meth system but the additional cost of another tune, map switcher, boost juice, etc was too much. You get 94 octane at the pump in Canada right? You are going to have a killer street car with inconel mani's, meth and 94 octane. I have an NA 4.08 rear but it's essentially the same thing as 4.10 leader gears. The gearing will feel like a ~50whp increase and that's no exaggeration. My 400whp stock turbo NA geared Z, felt just as fast if not faster than a 500whp HKS2560 TT geared Z as long as my car was in it's power band. Unfortunately that doesn't last long with stock turbos. Both cars had identical mods but the 500whp Z had upgraded turbos and a built motor. The stock turbos really fall off at the top of the RPM range while larger turbos just pull harder and harder. His car was no doubt faster overall but mine would pull on his from say 35-60mph or 70-95 for example. The HKS2560's are one of the better spooling big turbos too, especially in conjunction with all the breathers.
I disagree with Evan W. on the feeling like boost builds more gradually but I don't have any seat time with a stock turbo breather car and TT gearing. I've driven my brothers TT geared stage 3+ w/ DP/TP quite a bit but that's not a fair comparison. My car is making + boost the instant I apply any throttle pressure but that is definitely not the case with my brothers car. Now for the downsides: You need to have the gears installed properly or the noise will drive you insane. Even when set up correctly they are pretty noisy. My car is originally an NA so I've always had the NA rear but I'm now on my 3rd NA differential. I don't believe it can't handle the power though, I think it's just my driving habits. The car has so much torque that it's hard to resist sliding the rear end around and I think I put a tremendous amount of shock load on the ring and pinion. Most people break the drive axles while drag racing with slicks, I've always just grenaded the ring and pinion. You MPG will suffer, I'm at ~3k RPM at 65mph. I really wish I could some how get an overdrive 6th gear. Also 1st gear is useless unless you are on drag radials and even then you're bouncing off the rev limiter instantly. I can start in 2nd gear from a dead stop unless I'm on a relatively steep incline. I don't even have to give it any gas most of the time, just slowly let the clutch out. I've gone back and forth about swapping in a TT rear for years and driven several cars with various mods and gearing. In the end though I think I miss it though, especially 2nd gear. Even brand new 275 tires will break loose at 40mph and it's guaranteed to put a smile or look of terror on your passenger's face.
