understeer. The typical dumbass is a lot less likely to get himself killed or destroy his car if it has a propensity to understeer vs oversteer......you cant setup a car to be as neutral as possible, because once you factor in a dumbass behind the wheel, neutral becomes oversteer.....so everything is now understeer, has been that way for a while. Porsche used to have a reputation for building snap-oversteer cars, to the point of almost being dangerous especially the 964 turbo. I read somewhere that the reality was that too many drivers and automotive "journalists" simply did not possess a proper baseline driving ability to take advantage of the handling characteristics....but it didn't matter, everyone said Porsche 911 turbo is dangerous, and ever since then the later gen turbo has been lamented for its propensity to understeer. If auto manufacturers are doing anything in regards to handling on sportscars, I would attribute it to ensuring a margin of safety via understeer as opposed to "optimizing" handling. Gotta design for the lowest common denominator when it comes to vehicles meant for large markets.
"What a curiosity our new political correctness has made of our public spaces. Let your sex tape loose on the Internet and be rewarded with your own TV show; photograph a crucifix in a jar of urine and our museums will vie to exhibit it; occupy someone else’s property and you will be hailed by the president for your keen social conscience. But call people who blow up, behead, and mutilate, “savage” — and polite society will find you offensive." --Jared Silverman "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." --Benjamin Franklin "The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury." --George Washington END THE FED
