Message As did another well know word which civilized people don't really use in day to day conversation.

Years ago during WWII is when it became a derogatory word for the Japanese. Just as using Ni**er for describing black people. Do you use that as well in everyday conversation when talking about U.S. history. It's just a word.

Especially prevalent during World War II, the word "Jap" (or "Nip", short for Nippon) has been used in the United States and United Kingdom as a derogatory word for the Japanese. As well as yellow etc.

I gotta go with Spongerider on this. My wife who is Japanese particularly hates the term Jap.
