Message 1) No. I work / live / play in the "oilfield". I have first hand knowledge about recent formations and discoveries. Oil shales are being discovered all over the US, in almost every state. The dinosaurs were good to us.

2) I don't depend on Jap cars for my only fun. My DD is a Chevy Monstrosity with a drag cam. Nothing wrong with American cars. I love them. I'm just saying that the 90s was obviously a time of different philosophy for the Jap engineers. They were really throwing everything they had in their own special way at the US sports car market. Probably magnified at the time by the utterly weak American offerings in the same year models. Maybe they will come back to that place if culture and future allows for it. The Nissan GTR is an American car thru and thru. Designed solely for the American market. We just won't see these kinds of cars for their home consumption and use that happen to filter over to our shores and gain the huge followings. That being said, almost all Jap car designs have a significant portion of their design characteristics aimed directly at American buyers. Hell thats why they called it the "Fairlady" because thats something they thought Americans would like to say. It all comes back around to their willingness to accept the farcical media narratives pushed from the US abroad.
