Message There's bound to be at least one snag in the road while rebuilding a 17-20 year old Z and unless you're fortunate enough to have a local warehouse of both new and used Z parts within driving distance, the agreed upon window should be dynamic to a reasonable degree. And when you say penalties if the date isn't met you make it seem as if you're doing the "rebuilder" a favor by allowing them to work on your car rather than the other way around. One of the quickest ways to upset a person in the service industry is to tell them how and when they should do a job that you yourself are unable to do.
I know there are plenty of lame, dishonest, and lazy mechanics who charge more than they are worth and deliver less than they are expected to. But there are also plenty of good guys that will do the job for you the right way if you let them. All you have to do is your homework before you show up at their shop or house to know the difference.
