Message You have 2 options:
1. Let insurance fix it
2. Fix it yourself

Option 1
If you go this way, the isurance company has 2 options:

A. Offer you a repair estimate amount, then cover the repairs for your vehicle - If insurance repairs your car, the damage will forever be on your carfax, but your title will still be clear. Any further damage revealed during repairs will still be covered by the insurance company. I have seen cars exceed their value twice over in repairs because the adjustor did not assess the damage properly. the vehicle could have been replaced twice for the amount they had in repairs.

B. Total your vehicle - If insurance totals your vehicle, they will offer a bit more money to do with as you please and the car will forever have a branded title, beginning with salvaged. If you choose to rebuild it, the car will have a rebuilt title. Forever the damage and salvaging of the car will be on your history report, which essentially removes any remaining resale value from your Z.

If the insurance company goes with B, you're wasting any money you sink back into it. With option A, you have the insurance company going up to bat for you if any further damage is discovered once they've already begun repairs. At least at that point, you have the option to keep your Z and not have the title be marred forever. That's worth more than a little pocket cash in my opinion.
