Cliffs notes (from profile):
AliaZspec stage2 head porting (on '95 TT heads)
(Porting by aliaZ, new aftermarket valve seats, radius valve job for .5mm over sized valves, decking, and flow testing by Mike Smith)
flow @lift - my head w/ msp mani vs stock head w/ msp mani vs stock head w/ stock mani (CFM)
.1 103 vs 67.1 vs 63
.2 190 vs 123.8 vs 95
.3 212.5 vs 155.4 vs 99
.4 218 vs 160.5 vs 101
If those numbers don't make alot of sense to you read on and they will. Or for a good summary just skip to the bottom where all the numbers are compared and explained.

Background
My build up is coming along. It was highly delayed while waiting for the elusive Mike Smith Performance cast iron exhaust manifolds. While waiting for those (which as you know we have since received a preproduction version of) we kept busy. Nixit and I worked on the 60mm TB mod on my plenum in the up north in St. Louis while aliaZ ground away at a set of 95tt heads I secured for my build up.
aliaZ's first set of head porting Z32 heads was on his own 500+RWHP (on 93 octane pump gas) Z. Boy, it is it an impressive car/build. He meticulously ported his heads then (about 2.5 years ago) and learned alot from the experience. We were neighbors at the time and I checked in on his progress often and I was always VERY impressed at how detailed his work was on his heads. Today, we consider his porting on those heads aliaZspec stage 1 porting. So, this last year while we were waiting for the Mike Smith Performance manifolds he ground away on my heads and made use of all he learned from doing his set and he learned even more doing this set (and breathed in alot of AL too, I'm sure). After all the work was done and the heads were bolted to the block we blessed my heads aliaZspec Stage 2 heads.

Supertech Valves
aliaZ did plenty of research on valves for his build and came up with the best choice being the Supertech .5mm oversize vales. I also researched Manley, Ferra and some others and I came to the same conclusion that Supertech valves were the way to go as well. The biggest selling point to me is that the exhaust valves are still made of inconel rather than most competitors that use some type of SS alloy on the exhaust valves. Stock exhaust valves are inconel - why downgrade?

Mike Smith final assembly and testing
Once aliaZ was done with the porting he sent the heads to Mike Smith who took a break from the manifolds deck the heads, to install new intake valve seats, perform a radius cut on all the seats, clean, assemble, hand lap, vacuum test, and flow test the heads.

Putting it all in perspective
There is alot of data there to digest and without anything to compare it to its pretty meaningless. So, if you want you can compare it with stock (actually pocket ported on intake and stock with 3 angle valve job on exhaust - but for comparison sake we will consider them stock) head flow numbers you can use Nixit's top chart HERE. But I will save you the time by copy and pasting it for you here:

First, the intake side with lower intake (assuming nixit's data is flow tested with just the lower intake in place otherwise this intake side comparison is meaningless)
aliaZspec stage 2 vs stock (increase...gain%)
.1 109 vs 80 (+29...36%)
.2 195 vs 143 (+52...36%)
.3 242 vs 165 (+77...46%)
.4 264 vs 185 (+79...43%)

Now, the open head on the exhaust side
aliaZspec stage 2 vs stock
.1 104 vs 76 (+28...37%)
.2 193 vs 145 (+48...33%)
.3 227 vs 166 (+61...37%)
.4 236 vs 178 (+58...33%)

Finally, the most important data to me - how well the heads flows on the exhaust side with the MSP manifolds in place compared to stock heads with MSP manifolds, and then compared to stock heads with stock manifolds (used the corrected MSP manifold flow numbers from THIS post from above thread).
aliaZspec stage 2 vs stock w/ msp mani vs stock head w/ stock mani
.1 103 vs 67.1 vs 63 (63% total gain from stock, 54% gain over MSP mani on stock head, 6% gain from MSP mani over stock manifold on stock head)
.2 190 vs 123.8 vs 95 (100% total gain from stock, 53% gain over MSP mani on stock head, 32% gain from MSP mani over stock manifold on stock head)
.3 212.5 vs 155.4 vs 99 (115% total gain from stock, 54% gain over MSP mani on stock head, 57% gain from MSP mani over stock manifold on stock head)
.4 218 vs 160.5 vs 101(116% total gain from stock, 36% gain over MSP mani on stock head, 59% gain of MSP mani over stock manifold on stock head)

It takes me a long time to take in all the data from this section - a few conclusions I have come to:
* at .1 lift my head+manifold are flowing MORE than stock at FULL (.4) lift
* at low lift these heads are incredible, more than Mike Smith has ever seen before. This is obviously due in large part to the wonderful porting job by aliaZ but also due to the shape of the supertech valve. It is shaped to maximize flow at low-mid lift (where the valve is often at since its opening and closing -not sitting wide open- all the time).
* Ingoring the huge flow numbers at low lift, the gain from using this (these) head(s) is a roughly just as large as going from stock super restrictive crap exhaust manifolds to the beautiful MSP manifolds on stock heads, and since we are utilizing BOTH great flowing heads AND great flowing exhaust manifolds the results promise to be impressive to say the least.

aliaZ told me he is not interested in making another set of heads or working on another project after completing this one for some time. If you want a set of his heads, I know he has talked about pulling his (stage 1) heads off and reworking yet another set to the outermost limits of what will flow best, possibly portmatching the exhaust output ports to the HUGE intake ports of the MSP manifolds. Those I imagine, would be his stage 3 heads that he would use on his own car - possibly someday. At that point you might be able to buy his stage 1 heads if they are not already spoken for. But I can't speak for him, so if you are interested in something like this in the future you would have to contact him. All I know is he told me he is looking forward to NOT taking on any big projects for a while after completing this one.

These heads are my secret weapon mod, well not so secret after this post. I am so excited and so thankful to have aliaZ helping me on this project I simply can can't express it on this forum. His attention to detail, intelligence, input and inspiration for many/most of my mods, and general kindness towards me and this project no matter how stressful, annoying or delayed it becomes are simply amazing. Thank you for everything Don, especially your friendship.
