Message the plastic case of the battery is an excellent thermal insulator, so I do not expect to see a significant temperature gradient, if one exists at all.

if there is a temperature gradient induced by the floor, it could occur no matter what the floor is made of so long as the temperature of the floor remains relatively constant compared to ambient air temperature. The floor could be bare concrete, tile, vinyl...it wouldn't matter
