My daily driver has been a 2003 VW Beetle Convertible for a while. Just less than a year ago the OEM battery died. I opted for an Optima replacement from Amazon. I was away for a week last week. On Monday car won't start and I had a 9AM meeting, 45 miles away for work. I wasn't happy. Called Amazon and they promised a replacement battery. Took my E, did my meeting via telecom, parked on road side, but at least I was receiving a replacement battery and meeting went well. When I got home that evening, I jump started the car and all has been fine since. Kudos to Amazon, the replacement battery arrived yesterday very well packaged. But, frankly, I don't think I need it - maybe I am being naive here! The problem is that I can not return it becasue it is considered hazardous shipment. Kudos to Amazon, for a swift response. But, how do I save this brand new battery - I have the feeling that the current battery may quit at any moment, but the darn thing is less than a year old, and it's an Optima battery. Are Optima batteries just hype than real? By the way, over my rant, the main question is how to store this battery until I actually need it. Thanks.
